52 WoCC – Eggplant

I have a confession to make. Brace yourselves. I have never had eggplant. Ever. to understand this you must consider that for the first 20 years of my life I refused to eat anything that looked weird. And eggplant looks weird. After that, well, I just don’t know what to do with the damn thing. How do you cook an eggplant? What do you use it for? You’re welcome to post suggestions in the comments and I promise I’ll atleast try it. But for now, we’ll have to settle for the color.

52 WoCC – Asparagus

Week 23 reveals another food-color; Asparagus. The thought crossed my mind to track down an asparagus avatar, but I thought the likelihood of finding something like that was rather non-existant. So I went with a dress instead. And as always when I dress in green, the red hair is a given. There’s something about the combo that makes me happy in the pants.

TP to – Dysphoria

Dysphoria is a Alice in Wonderland themed sim made by Muse Muliaina.
It’s open to the public to explore and RP in.

Yeah, I think I know where this is going…

Wonder if my ass will fit through that tiny door?

Dude, you’re like… a blue caterpillar. Suh-weet!

Don’t lose your head…

Can you say foreboding?

Aah, just going to sit back and put my feet up on this… pig?

Lolapop is Clever

I adore things and people that are clever. The creator behind Lolapop, Lola79 Hienrichs, is clever. Better yet, she makes pretty things that are clever.

Just have a look at these two pieces of jewelry.

The choker is called “Bitten” and seriously, just look at how she makes a bite from a vampire in to jewelry. The detailing of the chains with the blood-drops are fantastic.

The necklace has a squiq on it, guess what it is? It’s a Caffeine Molecule. I mean, come on! How cool is that?

A big plus for Lolapop is that she put her choker and necklace on dual attachment points, meaning I could wear these two pieces together without any extra hassle. The necklace here also came in leather and silver strap, another big plus. I love multiple choices, it makes for easier matching with other pieces.

If you, like me, have a thing for clever, stop by at Lolapop, I promise you won’t be disappointed.

Pose Fair – Exposeur

My first favorite from the Pose Fair is this beautifully made Noir Window Box from Exposeur. I adore props and poses that inspire you tell a story with your pictures and that’s exactly what this does.

The Noir Window Box includes an open and a closed version, so you can take pictures both from the outside and inside. It has a scene prop with 7 black and white background for your window, as well as an see-through alpha if you need to make it disappear. The prop has 10 poses made for it and you get the poses both in the prop and individually, so if you happen to be extra fond of one, you can pop it in your pose stand as well. Very good value for your money.

Tp to – Pose Fair

Just about 12 hours left to go until Pose Fair 2010 opens it’s doors. I have to admit that when I got chosen as one of the bloggers who got to preview it, I let out a little fangirl squee and chairdanced. There are so many content creators involved in this that I’ve respected and admired over the years. The organizer and brain behind this, Katey Coppola of Glitterati, being one of them.

The fair is set on it’s very own sim, with a low-lag yet stylish build that’s very easily navigated. Everything is optimized towards creating as little lag as possible so that everyone can enjoy the fair.

At landing point you even get two special Pose Fair Skins. Put these on to both help lag and get a giggle. So very stylish.

Over the next week I’ll show you some of my favorites from the fair and believe me, there’s a lot of them. Pose Fair runs from April 2nd to April 16th.

7 Days of Truth – #5

Previous Truths: #1, #2, #3, #4

Truth #5; I don’t like children.

And I’m not talking about just kid-avies in SL. I’m talking actual RL breathing and living children. I mean really. The first few years is just a big mess of slobbering, screaming, pooping and sleeping. What’s to like? You know, I don’t even think they’re that cute. A kid has to be exceptionally fluffy for me to think they’re cute.

You’d think it’d get better as they grow too. But no, I can’t even understand a kid under the age of 7. A lot of incoherent babbel is what I hear. How someone can find this adorable is beyond me. And go figure, as soon as they are understandable, they also start demanding things. And then they’re just a few years away from puberty. We all know what a big nuisance a teenager can be.

Anyway, this seems to be a truth that is very provoking to many people. But really, it’s not like I go around screaming “I hate you” to every child I meet. I give them the same initial respect as I do with any other person. I’m polite, I was raised well.

But, when asked one of the most moronic question in the world “Why don’t you have kids yet?” I’ll tell the truth. I don’t like them. Not even a little. Can’t think of myself as a Mother. And boy do people get their knickers in a knot.

And no, I’m not going to change my mind “when I grow up”.
I’m 25, I’m pretty damn grown, ok?

7 Days of Truth – #4

Previous truths; #1 #2 #3

Truth #4; I’m a compulsive Lister.

I have somewhere around 10-15 notebooks all filled with one thing. Lists. It all started a few years back when I was getting more and more frustrated about not remembering things. You know, old age and all. So I started to make lists. It started innocently with just the most important things and quickly spiraled in to listing… everything.

I have lists for blogposts, home-work, design ideas, alts, websites, stuff to buy (irl & sl), stuff to wish for… Well you get the idea. I have 2 notebooks by the bed and about 5 or 6 by the desk, all of which I use. It’s comes to a point where if I would lose one I’d probably go nutters. It’s also caused me to have a unhealthy habit of buying fancy notebooks all the time.

But hey, I rarely forget anything these days.

SL vs RL Blogosphere

I’ve been a real-life blogger for almost 6 years and a SL blogger for little over a month. In this time I’ve already seen big differences in the two, the main thing being that the SL blogosphere seems so quiet. People blog a lot, don’t get me wrong. But not many comment.

There are a few who’s considered to be the “big” bloggers, those who’ve made themselves a name (a SLebrity if you will) blogging. Yet these blog are strangely empty of comments. (I’m not counting the official blogs nor do I count employees of LLĀ  or community/joint blogs, they have an obvious advantage.) Latest three blogposts by two of the biggest names in SL was 0,3,1 and 3,4,1. This is very odd to me. The top two bloggers (again, under the same premises as SL blogs) in Sweden have 87, 63, 62 and 118, 48, 83.

I know, you’re thinking “Well, you can’t compare the two, that’s RL this is SL”. Actually, I think I can and here’s why.

Second Life, according to Linden Labs, has roughly around 18,5 million users. We all know about the alts and the people who leave to never come back, so let’s say for arguments sake it’s roughly around half, 9 million. That’s the population of Sweden. Not all 9 million SL users blog or read blogs, but then again, neither does all 9 million Swedish residents. Even if my comparison is off, you get the picture, there’s potential here.

So, it seems to me that here we have a vast and mostly untapped resource. Where do we go from here? Is there a want/need for more active readers in the SL Blogosphere? If so, how do we engage people, how do we push them to be active? Think to yourself, how often do you comment? Are you happy with that or would you like to do it more/less? Why? When you do comment, why? I find this subject really interesting and I look forward to hearing your thoughts.
