Blogger Budget Challenge 2011

I can’t pass up a good challenge, most of you know this by now. So when Tracy from Dial G for Girl presented the Blogger Budget Challenge, I was all over that. I actually happened to have an alt I had not yet decked out, so I sent her 100L and went on my way.

My biggest splurge was the skin. I don’t know about you, but I can’t feel right if I don’t have a skin that’s up to par with what I’m used to. It’s a tough cookie to crack, because that standard is usually hella expensive. Thankfully Glam Affair has a skin out at TDR, so I was in luck.

Next to skin, the hair seems to be the hardest part to find. I just happened to be in luck again as Exile had put out a whole wall of free hairs. Then, to get some eyelashes I actually camped for 30 minutes, the things you have to do to get pretty, huh?

After that was taken care of I had to find the rest for just 30L. It took a while. I got many, many freebies that I discarded, but in the end I managed to put together three looks for just 88L. That’s 88L for all three. I think I did pretty well.

Tomorrow I’m off to my parents house to begin my Christmas. You may not know this, but in Sweden we celebrate Christmas on the 24th. We get our present one day early! Muhahaha. But in addition my family also celebrates the 25th, so it’s like getting two Christmases. I’m a lucky one, I know.

But before I go stuff my face I just wanted to wish you all a Merry Christmas (or whatever else you celebrate). I hope it’ll be filled with good nohms, happy families, spiked eggnog and fancy gifts. Cheers!

52 WoCC – Yellow

When I was a little girl, maybe ten or so, my Mother used to buy my clothes. I had not yet realized I had a choice in the matter and what she got for me was usually all good, so it continued like that for a while.

One day she, for some reason, decided that my complexion was perfect for the color yellow. For roughly a year, yellow was more or less all she bought for me. You know that Mother who thinks her baby is a princess and buy’s her all pink? Like that, but yellow. What am I, some friggin banana?

So there you have the background to my simmering hate for yellow. A hate that has during this last week spiraled in to epic proportions. I’ve been struggling, to say the least.

See, everything yellow is so happy and cute, really everything that my clothes were for that whole year, so there was no way I would spend money on that.

Then, suddenly by coincidence, I found it.

Say hello to punk-rock yellow. Or as the dress is actually called; Pruim by Ducknipple. This is a yellow I can comply with. I actually even like it. I’m wearing it now, even though I’ve already snapped the photos. That’s a pretty good review coming from yellow-hating me.

It’s also the perfect dress to show of this brand new cleavage from Glam Affair. Yep, my favorite skin now has cleavage. Hurrah! But remember boys(?) and girls. Tucked boobies are only for clothes that actually tucks your boobs, yes? Like this snugged dress for instance. Look at all that boob. Mmm…

52 WoCC – Sepia

I gotta admit, I’m not 100% sure of what Sepia is, other than a style of photo. From Luna’s post I gathered it’s a type of brown, so that’s what I went looking for. I decided to do this post by shopping in my own inventory, bringing out old pieces I haven’t used in a while.

I bought this sweater from Maitreya almost two years ago, in all colors, and I think I wore it daily for months after that. It’s been a bit of a staple and I think it still holds is own. I especially like the sleeve extenders on this sweater, making it feel cozy and warm, like a sweater should.

The boots from Kitties Lair was bought around the same time, also in all colors available. I had a thing for fatpacks back then, even if the term “fatpack” wasn’t as widely known as it is now. I still think these boots are fantastic, but I wish for a 2.0 viewer update with the alphas. Someone tell Santa.

The fantastic “bum-hair” introduced to me by Skittles made it’s way in to my <3 list immediately, it’s one of the better made long hairs on the market thanks to it’s two attachment points. It poses well, which other long hairs tend to fail on.

I threw in some newer pieces, my favorite pair of leather pants from Deviance (look at that ass) and the intricate necklace from Mandala made it a pretty nice (hopefully) sepia’ish outfit.

TP to Circo Loon – Sweet Edition

It’s easy to think that SL is all about sex and fashion. As a new resident, you get showered with both and get lulled in to believing that’s all there is to it. And while I’m an avid fan of both sex and fashion, I still maintain that the best thing about Second Life is that it can be whatever you like. You call the shots and you have complete power of what your Second Life can be.

If you want to be a fashionista, go for it. If you want to be an avid business-wo/man, nothing is stopping you. And if you want to build an amusement park out of giant candy, you can. And that’s exactly what pallina60 Loon did.

There’s a special place in my Second Life heart for people who think outside the box. There are too few people who actually use all that Second Life has to offer to make something unique and awe-inspiring. I myself am guilty of that, I suppose it takes an imaginative mind and a child-like attitude to pull it off. But when I visit spaces like this, I feel some of that rub off on me, which is why I giggle with pleasure when I explore everything that Circo Loon has to offer.

Click for larger pictures.

Circo Loon is interactive, explorer-friendly and pushes the boundaries of what your Second Life can be. Bring a friend or a loved one for some good laughs and perhaps a dance in a puddle of honey. Visit the skyscraper sized cake or tickle the gummy-bears giant bellies. There’s even a forest of ice-cream cones. An added plus is the fact that you’re allowed to rez, which makes it a great site for photographs.

52 WoCC – Plum

When I saw this weeks color challenge I thought for sure it’d be easy. I have tons of different purples in my inventory, surely I have a good amount of plum? Yeah, I do, but none of it actually went together. So I’ve been aimlessly wandering around in SL trying to find the pieces for this outfit and today I think I did it.

I fell head over heels in love with this luscious cardigan from LeLutka. Eventhough LeLutka is a pretty big brand and have been around for some time, I realized today I don’t own a single piece from them. I do now and I have to give it to them, even the packaging is exquisite. This cardigan has some of the best sculpt/shading work I’ve seen. For a person like me, who is not a fan of photo-sourcing, yet wants apparel to be realistic, this is exactly my type of fashion.

I paired it up with my new Maitreya shoes, which I’m sure you’ve all seen a thousand pictures of on the feeds. Usually I’m a bit iffed about socks in open-toed shoes, but these are so well made I kind of had to have them anyway.

It all tied together nicely with my trusted old League dress. The pieces in the thermal series are still some of my favorites on the grid.

So, did I make it?

Fug or Fab?

As you may (or may not) have noticed I’ve been trying my hand at fashion blogging this past week. It’s a task more difficult than I thought. My original outfit for the blue post here underneath was something entirely different that I posted. Mainly because when I was done, it was so far from blue and so weirdly looking I couldn’t post it. See, all of the pieces in this outfit are fantastic, but I can’t figure out if I like them together. This could be because of my aversion to pink, or it could be a downright fashion fail. You tell me.

Fug or Fab? Cast your vote in the poll.
