TP to – Rainy Town

On a sim called Creamshop you will find not only a cute store called Creamshop, but also one of the best sim builds I’ve seen to this date. Rainy Town is exactly what it sounds like, a rainy little town. You land in a flooded tunnel where special little creatures awaits you (I’m not going to ruin the surprise, but they’re cute, promise). If you make your way through the tunnel you come out to a little town-square and by the time you get there you’ll be in awe.

Very realistic, very noir-looking is this sim-build that features rain in the most beautiful way possible. The creator seems to have thought of everything, little puddles on the side-walk, rain dropping from the awnings and even a little apartment with rain dribbeling windows. This sim is perfect for taking photographs or just walking around admiring, not to mention the fact that you can shop in it.

TP to Rainy Town.

Plurk of the Week

It’s time for another Plurk of the week (yeah I changed from day to week, so sue me) and this one come from Speaking Truth. They write;

The point of this account is to give people the props they deserve, without worry of puffing yourself up at the same time. No Drama, no negativity allowed. In a virtual world full of too much hatred, we need more positive energy. Any Truth that goes sideways will be edited.

I dare say that this is a spin on the wildly popular SLMatchMaker (who sadly isn’t around anymore) who dedicated a whole timeline to letting people confess their crushes. It’s not the same person behind the two though, I’ve already had this confirmed.

I have to say I’m in love with ideas like these. There are far to many passive-aggressive drama on Plurk and SL, it’s refreshing to see the opposite. Some people wondered why you wouldn’t just tell the person that positive thing. I can see why, maybe this person is a SLebrity and feel unapproachable. Maybe you don’t want to come across as the annoying fanboy/girl. Maybe you just want to tell them how pretty they are without being labeled as “The guy who tried to get in my pants.”

Whatever your reason, if you want to anonymously raises someone to the sky, you can simply PP (private plurk) Speaking Truth and s/he will put it on their timeline for the world to see. Great idea!

Now this is an Invitation.

When I logged on earlier I got this fantastic invitation from the Gos Collective.
I think it’s the best invitation I’ve ever seen in SL. It’s a taste of what you’ll see if you go over to the new Gos Mainstore. The build itself makes it worth the trip, not to mention the great things that you find in it.

So, tomorrow (Saturday 20th) Gos is having a Launch Party for the new sim and there will be a live act, DJ’s and even a duck race. It’s surely going to be a blast and probably packed full, so get there early. The party starts at 3pm (SLT) with Maximillion Kleene and his live performance. I saw Maximillion a while back and he is truly one of SL’s great talents.

Gospel Voom writes;

Headliner Maximillion Kleene will kick the event off with a bang, followed by DJ BROKEN, and DJ Amy Ferguson, bringing the best music to dance and listen to. Did I mention the DUCK RACES? Duck Racing at Quackerstone. Ride your Rubber Ducky to victory in this timed event. Prizes for the fastest times. Rubbers, er Ducks supplied, galoshes not neccessary. What a riot!

See you there!

Interact with a Blogger; A Challenge.

Ok, so I know you read blogs (obviously, or you wouldn’t read this one) but how often do you interact with the bloggers? It’s safe to say that the majority of bloggers around depends on feedback to keep going. If what you’re doing produces no visible reaction, you quickly lose the motivation to do it.

I know there’s a lot of people who read insane amount of blogs each and every day but very rarely posts any comments on them. You might feel that you have nothing valuable to say or that what you wanted to say have already been said by someone else. I’m urging you to rid yourself of these thoughts. Even if all you have to say is “Hey, I liked this post”, please do, it’s means so much to the blogger.

So, here’s the challenge. Find three (or more) blog posts to comment on today. If you’re having trouble finding something to comment on, here are some suggestions from around the blogosphere.

Marnix on the subject of voice in SL. – How do you feel about voice? Do you do it or not? Why? Tell him in the comments.

Crap Mariner on the subject of SLT. – Do you like the current time format in SL? Why/Why not? What do you think would be the best solution? Leave a comment with your opinion.

Alicia on Linden Homes. – Wonder what it’s all about? Have some thoughts on the project itself? Or maybe just compliment her on the pictures? It’s up to you.

Fayne on fashion for dancers. – How do you like the pictures? The items? Is there something in particular that stand out for you? Give her some feedback.

Here are some things that might make it more fun to comment. Go to Gravatar and set up your avatar picture. It will show up next to your comment on most wordpress blogs and some other sites as well. If you’re commenting on a blogspot site, you can set up a Google ID with your picture that works the same way.

Bloggers, here’s your challenge. Take a few minutes out of your life to reply to (at least) three of the comments you’ve received. Commenters also need feedback and it encourages them to check your site again.

If you accept this challenge, please comment (or trackback a post) and let me know how it went.

The Perfect Skin (?)

I’m one of those people that will buy a skin and live in it for months. While others change daily (or even hourly) I like to have something that stays constant, that feels “me”. I’ve been wearing my Belleza Jesse skin since the day I got it and it felt so right when I picked it up. While I still adore it, I feel like I need an update. Most people directed me to Belleza Alyson, their newest skin, but when I tried it on I looked so cute. There’s nothing wrong with being cute.. If you’re someone other than me, that is. I’m a metalhead, I have an image to protect here…

So, I’ve been running around the grid picking up a total of 40 different skin lines from 36 stores, most of them including multiple tones and makeups. It’s taken me all day to look through every single one and let me tell you, I am so sick of seeing my own face I could barf. I’ve managed to cut it down to 6 final candidates, but now I need your help. Have a look at the pictures below and then click for your favorite.

Also, don’t call me “little girl”

I’ve gotten a lot of feedback on my last post, mostly from plurkers but also some inworld and in the comments. I didn’t realize it would be such a controversial topic and I’ve enjoyed hearing peoples thoughts on it.

There does seem to be a cultural difference between Sweden and America regarding this. My friends inform me that is in fact common to hear these terms from customer reps and the likes in America. The south seems especially good at this, I was informed. In Sweden however, you would be seriously reprimanded, maybe even lose your job if you called a customer “Hun”.

I really do enjoy a good discussion and I’m always ready to hear people out and change my opinion if I feel it needs revising. But then someone comes along that just proves my point. I got IM’d inworld by someone with no profile information what so ever, obviously an alt account.

Alt Person: Just a thought… today you bitched about someone calling you “honey” and how inappropriate and rude it was. Ever stop to think that flipping people off of a community blog and using the F word all the time is a little inappropriate?
Alt Person: Grow up, little girl.

First of all, yes, you’re right, it is rude to flip people off. It was kind of the point. Secondly, “F word all the time” is a bit of an exaggeration, don’t you think? This blog has one (1) count of “F-word” in it, and it’s in the context of “Effing Ace”, meaning positive context. If you’re that sensitive, I’m sorry, but I really can’t help you.

Third and last. Don’t IM me from an alt account and tell me to “grow up” and call me “little girl”. It just makes you look stupid and proves my point.

Don’t call me Hun.

A few days ago I contacted a shop owner on a costumer service note. I have never spoken to this person before. The chat that followed points to one of my Pet Peeve’s that are running rampant in Second Life.

Shop Owner: ok honey gonna send that to you right now
Shop Owner: ok hun sent

Imagine if this was real life. I go to the customer desk at a store and ask for help. No rep in the world would dream of calling me “Hun” in that situation. It’s rude and condescending, not to mention totally inappropriate. Yet, in SL, it seems to be the norm.

If you don’t know me you are not allowed to call me Hun, Honey, Baby, Darling, Doll, Sweetheart or any other moronic nick name you can dream up.

My name is Kissowa. Don’t call me Hun.

Feeding My Shoe Addiction

Some people are skin whores, others are hair sluts. Me, I’m a full blown raving lunatic shoe addict. It’s the number one post in my expenses after tier and it’s responsible for a lot of squee’s in my daily life. I’ve been complimented on my eye for good shoes and it’s a type of compliment I just eat up.

Anyway, here’s today’s squee. Redgrave Biker Boots Reloaded. I saw a sneak preview of these a few weeks ago and was heartbroken when I learned I couldn’t get my hands on them yet. Now they’re here and they are fucking ace.

I have the earlier version of the Biker Boots, but something about them didn’t quite seem right, so I haven’t used them a lot. They made my ankle look tiny and the shoe was just weirdly proportioned.

The Reloaded version fixes all that and adds a metalheads dream to; studs and chains. I was so excited I actually fatpacked them and I never do that. They will probably be plastered to my feet for a good while (or at least until the next squee).

SL Talent – Kafka Dinzeo

Today I did something totally random that panned out very well. Stacey plurked that she was at a live show in SL and I went to join her without knowing what it was. When I had already accepted the TP, she mentioned it was Hip Hop and I have to admit I facepalmed. I’m a metalhead, I very rarely listen to Hip Hop and when I do, I’m very selective. But you know, you don’t want to be rude and all, so I stayed, hit play and… was totally impressed.

The guy in question calls his SL avatar Kafka Dinzeo and he’s the virtual alter ego of Mic Rocka. He’s a rapper with a sense of humor. He performs live shows in Second Life and you really should keep your eyes out for his gigs, they are totally win. His freestyle rapping was so funny in a awesomely talented sort of way. Basically he asked the audience to type out topics at random during a beat and he would rap about it.

You’d think that would make for some awkward silences or total fail, but no, this guy is good. I can’t really explain it to you, you have to hear it to believe it. He performs at the FireFly (which was a pretty cool build) once or twice a month if I understood correctly. Keep your eyes peeled for the next show, I promise you won’t be disappointed.

Plurk of the Week

Me and my SL alter ego is a frequent user of plurk. Infact I find it so fun I spend more time there than I do actually InWorld. I have a bunch of interesting people on my plurkline and every so often a plurk full of potential comes along. So I thought I’d do a category where I each week (yeah, don’t hold me to that, each week means every-so-often) take a plurk and run with it in the blog.

Today’s plurk comes from Stacey and reads;

Your mission if you choose to accept it today is to take a picture of a random person you see today and post it on Plurk!

I thought I could have some great fun with this as I every day bump into at least one person I’d like to snap. But today was a virtual desert and I was just about to give up when I ran into this guy.

Isn’t he just full of awesome? Take special notice to the hotdog he’s holding in his hand. He actually made me laugh out loud for real. The fact that he was doing some sort of hump dance normally performed by busty strippers made it even better. Not to mention the outfit! Total Win.
